About Daybreak Community Church

Daybreak was started in the home of Steve and Nola Reed about 5 years ago. After several months, the church facility we currently are located in became available to us. After a few months of preparation, we launched public services in January of 2001 with a dream for capturing the imagination of unchurched people.

While still a young congregation, we have developed some strong ministries. We have had some very talented people join our team in the past couple of years who lead in music and drama ministries. This team of creative people set up our messages with innovative and entertaining looks at the day's topic. In addition to our Sunday service teams, we have some dedicated folks who lead our children's ministries. Some have said that we have one of the best children's ministries for a church our size. Even larger churches have come to learn from some of our chilrdren's leaders.

In getting started, Daybreak has been greatly helped by one of our sister congregations, North Heartland Community Church--a church in the Kansas City Northland. This was one of the churches that Steve had a hand in starting back in the Fall of 1994. They gave towards our start-up, and additional funding came from the Kansas/Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists, and the Kansas City Kansas Baptist Association. While Daybreak has strong ties to these two Baptist groups, our style of ministry is far from the stereotype of what some think of when they think of a Baptist Church. The truth is that there are many innovative churches in our Baptist network, and we are proud to be a part of this forward thinking group of people. We network with them and other churches across denominational lines to do ministries in our region and even around the world. We're also a part of the Willow Creek Association--a group of churches across over 80 denominations that strive to reach out to unchurched people.
